I studied graphic design in high school as an elective, preferring graphic design over traditional art classes, which I found boring. However, I didn’t realize I could make a career of it until I was in college and I met design students who were freelance graphic designers. That opened my eyes to the possibilities of design and I quickly switched majors and never looked back.
Growing up, I had a tendency to be shy, but I loved to dance. Dancing gave me the freedom to be creative and it helped my to find my voice and gain confidence. I continued to do ballet and contemporary dance through college while in the design program. I believe the creativity of dance helped me develop my perspective as a designer.
